How to Install a Precut Tint Kit

Tools

Our tool kit has a gasket tucker, scraper, knife and 4-inch card. You'll also need mild soap or baby shampoo, distilled water, a spray bottle and a lint-free cloth. Work in a sheltered, low-dust place; wetting the floor helps.

1. Clean the glass

Mix half a teaspoon of mild soap per quart of water. Clean one window at a time, inside and out, scraping off debris gently, right into the corners and gasket.

2. Apply the film

Find the piece for the window (film goes on the inside). Lower roll-down windows slightly. Peel the liner while spraying the adhesive with solution, wet the glass too, and slide the film into place. On roll-down windows, tuck the bottom edge into the gasket. Get a helper for very large windows.

3. Squeegee out the water

Spray the film's outer surface and squeegee from the center outward until all water and bubbles are gone. Take your time.

4. Finish the edges

Trim any overhang carefully, without cutting rear defroster lines. Leave windows up for at least three days while the film cures; any haze clears as it dries.

Curved rear windows

Very curved rear glass needs heat shrinking. Lay the film on the outside of the wet glass, liner up, and use a heat gun in short bursts to flatten the "fingers", then install it on the inside as above.
